Joke Laureyns

Joke Laureyns is a choreographer with a background in philosophy.

She and fellow choreographer Kwint Manshoven created Kabinet K, a company focusing on dance performances with both professional dancers and children on stage. Their dance is based on concrete, daily actions and small gestures interwoven with elements of play. The fact that children are included in the cast makes their dance accessible to people of all ages. Each of their creations literally grows from the steps that the young dancers take. Precisely because organic and intuitive elements are such an important aspect of their dance vocabulary, both choreographers enjoy working with children or older bodies that are not marked (or not to such a great extent) by certain patterns of behaviour or dance techniques.

Kabinet K is currently touring with Horses and Invisible.
